Here we are going to discuss step-by-step method to install brass threaded inserts without using Driving Tool, which are used to provide machine screw threading in wood based applications.
Step 1 :
Drill a Pilot hole in the wood using the appropriate drive tools. You can find the right drill size in the Brass Threaded Insert’s specifications. Also we are going to use a Hex Cap Screw / Hex Cap Bolt of the size of the Insert.
Step 2 :
Install Hex Cap Screw all the way in the Brass threaded insert.
Step 3 :
Place the assembly of Hex Cap Screw and Insert over the hole as shown in the figure.
Step 4 :
Use Ratchet Wrench Driver for Hex Cap Screw and install the assembly in the hole. The assembly should be flush with the wood to consider proper installation.
Step 5 :
Using the same Ratchet Wrench Driver, remove the Hex Cap Screw from the installation by reverse motion. You need to make sure that only the Hex Cap Screw should be removed not the Insert.
Step 6 :
If required, push the insert having two grooves at the top using appropriate screw driver and tighten it to the wood according to your requirement.
